Revell names winners in Foose model selection

July 14, 2015 The votes are in--more than 10,000 of them--and, given a choice of seven Chip Foose custom car designs, modelers have elected Foose's 1956 F-100 pickup and 1948 "Eldorod" Cadillac for production. Both all-new model kits will be released by Revell in late 2016.
The 1956 Ford F100--a Foose family heirloom that was rebuilt and restyled in 2005 as part of Foose’s Overhaulin’ television show—gained 33 percent of the popular vote. The Eldorod—darling of the 2012 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show with its custom deep blue paint, chrome and hot-rod attitude— second place with 19 percent.
The other candidates were: Foose’s 1934 Ford Mercury-inspired “Stallion,” 1935 “Grand Master” Chevy Master sedan, 1936 “Impression” Ford-based roadster, 1965 “Impostor” Impala, and the “Hemisfear” custom supercar coupe.
Foose says, “Going into this, I had no idea what the results would be because—to me—each one of these cars is a favorite. As it turned out, fans wound up choosing two completely different kinds of vehicles—a pickup and a Cadillac—and that will make for great variety in model building when these kits hit store shelves.”
Brian Eble, vice president of marketing for Revell parent company Hobbico, says, “The fact that this survey generated more than 10,000 votes demonstrates how passionate people are about both Chip’s custom car designs and model car building. These two vehicles will be strong additions to our line of Foose-inspired scale models.”
The winners will be produced under an exclusive three-year license that also includes four reissues of earlier Foose-flavored Revell models. Beginning in the fourth fiscal quarter of 2015, the series will include full glue-and-paint kits as well as Revell’s first Foose “predecorated” (prepainted) model glue kits, complete with Foose-created paint schemes, wheel designs and special Foose renderings used only in the kit’s box art.
The new kits will join a Foose collection that includes 1964 and 1965 Chevy Impalas, a 1967 Dodge Charger 426 Hemi, a 1967 Dodge Coronet, a 1969 Camaro Z/28 and a 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 Ram Air.
