Queensland Model Hobbies Expo moves

Published: March 10, 2015

The Queensland Model Hobbies Expo and Queensland Scale Modelling Championships, held for the past 19 years in Windsor, Queensland, Australia, a suburb of Brisbane, is headed down the road to Just Sports and Fitness Hall in Redbank on Aug. 22 and 23.

Show president Fred Liedel says there are now 24 clubs involved and that the show had outgrown its base at Windsor. The past venue being filled to capacity had hindered promotion of event for the past five years, and the show was ready to expand.

Liedel says, "The Queensland Model Hobbies Expo is the second biggest in Australia, only beaten by Melbourne.

"In the U.S. and the U.K. these shows are huge. At Telford in the U.K. they get 28,000-30,000 people coming along. We know the potential of our show, we have a promotional budget this year, and we want to make our 20th year our biggest yet."
