  • Eisner Award-winning cartoonist Richard Thompson passed away at the age of 57. Thompson was the creator of the Cul de Sac comic strip.
  • Jack Davis, artist for Mad Magazine, passed away at the age of 91. In addition to creating cover art for EC Comics, he also designed movie posters, including one for It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.

  • Transformers producer Tom DeSanto will oversee the estate of the late Gary Gygax, co-creator of the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. DeSanto was named “guardian of the library” by Gygax’s widow, Gail Gygax.
