ParkZone Ultra-Micro Mosquito

Product: The ParkZone Ultra-Micro Mosquito Mk VI is the first-ever 4-channel twin-engine ultra-micro R/C fighter model. In addition to having a steerable tail wheel and removable landing gear, it includes twin motors, an authentic "Mossy" camouflage paint scheme, a molded clear plastic canopy, and even dummy cannons! The 4-channel system with elevator, throttle, rudder, and ailerons provide full control for precise flying.

The Mosquito comes with everything you need to fly including the flight battery and charger. Once the receiver is bound to your DSM-compatible transmitter, check the control surface deflection and center-of-gravity, and you are ready to fly!

Performance: The Mosquito Mk VI arrived well protected in its box. It came wrapped in a few sections of protective plastic and secured with a single removable piece of foam. The nose is held in place by magnets and provides a convenient way to install the single-cell 250mAh battery.

Since no assembly is required, I connected the Celectra 1-Cell 3.7V Variable Rate DC LiPo Charger to a 12V DC power supply and charged the 250mAh battery for about 15 minutes.

I bound the Mosquito to a JR 9503 transmitter by simply plugging in the flight battery, waiting five seconds, and then powered up the transmitter in bind mode.

I gave the elevator a few clicks of down trim to make it neutral. The Mosquito should also be balance checked for about 38mm (1.5") back from the leading edge. The battery bay allows for the pack to be placed slightly forward or aft as needed.

At the field, I gave the Mosquito a light toss at about half throttle and flew for about 10 minutes. The 2.6-oz. warbird handled very well in light winds of less than 5 mph. I was impressed with the amount of control I had right out of the box and could easily fly it in a small area. The plane is very stable and light so it would be difficult to damage when flying over grass. On my second flight, I removed the landing gear. It looked even better in the air without the gear and flew just as well.

The Mosquito’s ESC features a low voltage cutoff that occurs when the battery reaches 3V per cell under load. When the soft cutoff occurs, the ESC and receiver reduce power to the motor (regardless of throttle position). This prevents the battery’s voltage from dropping below 3V per cell, which can damage the battery. The Mosquito can land without any power to the motor.

The Mosquito performs loops, rolls, and inverted flight. It’s designed for intermediate to advanced pilots who have had some experience with aileron-equipped airplanes.

Marketing: Since the ParkZone Ultra-Micro Mosquito Mk VI flies as good as it looks, it should become a "must have" model for experienced hobbyists that love a twin-engine three-blade prop design or a popular warbird. The box itself is sure to attract customers and also provides an easy way to store the plane for safe keeping or transport. It also has a multilingual summary of the product features with a brief history of the full-scale aircraft.

The plane has many scale details, great stability, and the power system is strong enough for numerous aerobatics.

Some key spares to keep on hand would be the 3.7V 250mAh 20C LiPo Battery (No. EFLB2501S20) and the 110mm x 80mm 3-blade counter-rotating props (Nos. EFLUP11803B and EFLUP11803BR). The model is also a great match for a less expensive transmitter like the DX5e DSMX (No. SPMR5510). Note that just about every part of this model can be purchased as a spare part.
