HMA elects 2012-’13 officers

The Hobby Manufacturers Board of Directors re-elected its officers for the 2012-’13 membership year.
Fred Hill, owner of The Coach Yard in Pasadena, Calif., was re-elected as president. Bill Jeric, president of the Losi Division of Horizon Hobby in Ontario, Calif., was re-elected to his second term as vice president. And Hal Miller of Kalmbach Publishing’s Model Railroader magazine, based in Waukesha, Wis., was re-elected to the position of secretary/treasurer.
Hill has been a partner in The Coach Yard, a model railroad manufacturing company specializing in HO scale, since 1984. He is also the owner of The Original Whistle Stop, a Southern California hobby shop that specializes in model trains. The store was founded in 1951 and purchased by Hill in 1976.
Jeric has been president of Horizon Hobby’s Losi division since October 2007. His involvement in R/C stretches back more than 30 years, from his early experience as a hobby retailer to his work bringing 1:8-scale buggy racing to prominence in the U.S.
Miller was named the new managing editor of Model Railroader in August. He previously served as editor of Model Retailer since 2004 and had daily contact with almost all segments of the industry. Miller has been with Kalmbach Publishing Co. since 1996.
Ed Rogala, formerly of Quest Aerospace Inc., was re-elected president of the HMA General Hobby Division Council. Miller was re-elected as vice president. Also re-elected to serve second terms on the General Hobby Division Council were John Smith of Iwata-Medea, Richard St. John of Hobbytyme Distributors, Paul Weber of Alpha Precision Abrasives, and Bob Wilke of HobbyTown USA.
Richard Janyszek, vice president of sales for Bachmann Trains, was elected president of the HMA Model Railroad Industry Division Council. Stacy Walthers-Naffah, vice president of communications for Wm. K. Walthers Inc., was re-elected as vice president. And Gale Cousins, director of sales and customer service for Woodland Scenics, was elected as secretary/treasurer.
Mark Schwing of Electronic Model Systems was re-elected as president of the HMA Radio Control Division Council. Jeric was re-elected as vice president. Rob Kurek, director of publications for the Academy of Model Aeronautics, was elected secretary/treasurer.
Lewis Nace, vice president of sales and marketing for Minicraft Models, was re-elected for a second term as president of the Plastics and Die-Cast Division Council. Also re-elected to the Plastics and Die-Cast Division Council were Bob Johnson, president of Scaleworks LLC, Matthew Wells, president of Scale Motorsport, and Alain Morot of Minichamps North America.
