By showing some appreciation for his customers, owner Rex Simpson found that his customers showed their appreciation right back.

Simpson held a customer appreciation day Saturday, Aug. 25, at his Portage, Mich., store. He called the event a huge success, as customers had lined up outside his doors since 6 a.m.

"The intention of this event was to give something back to our customers," Simpson said in an email. "It was something we had not done since our 20th anniversary party three years ago."

The hobby shop provided giveaway bags for the first 100 customers, and one bag even included a $100 gift card. Customers also won gift cards for racing radio-control cars.

Other attractions included R/C vehicle demonstrations, T-shirt giveaways, and catering from local restaurants.

"We hope everyone who was able to attend appreciated our efforts," Simpson said, "and based only on the feedback we received on the day of our event, it worked."
