First impression: Displayed side by side in a glossy cardboard collector’s box, Scalextric’s new Hypercars Limited Edition set includes a fully chromed Bugatti Veyron and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
The collector’s box lid features information about the two supercars after which these slot cars were modeled, the 267 mph Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4, the word’s quickest road-legal car, and the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 5.4L supercharged V8.
Each car is Digital Plug Ready and includes working rear lights and Xenon effect headlights.
Why you should stock it: The Hypercars set includes a plastic collector’s card indicating which of 5,500 sets a customer has purchased. That production number doesn’t exactly make it the set “limited edition,” but combined with the display box and chrome-plated cars, the set will catch a few eyes.
Display it near the cash register, on an end cap or in a window, and a few younger customers are bound to be lured in when they see their reflection in these slot cars. |
