Teaming with the popular Speed Network show GearZ, Revell Inc. will conduct the recurring Revell/GearZ Global Model Car Championships. With the help of more than 3,000 hobby shops and retailers, participants will be able to enter online and upload photos of their models.

“We wanted to do something to spark imagination and get people to use their hands and actually build something,” GearZ star Stacey David said. “Models have always been the perfect place to start. This contest will hopefully provide incentive for them to try it, as well as spark the interest of older guys that maybe haven’t built a model for a long time. Some of those guys have some great tips and tricks that need to be shared with up-and-coming builders.”

“Revell’s partnership with Stacey David and GearZ exposed kids to the fun in building a scale model automobile kit last year,” said Rick Haas, vice president of sales and marketing for Revell Inc. “We also returned former ‘baby boomer’ model builders to the hobby with their kids or grandkids since we even have a competition class for novice builders.”

In addition to awards and valuable prizes from Revell, Testors, Badger Airbrush, Scale Auto and Car Craft magazines, Ford, Dodge, Caroll Shelby, JH Designs, Ford Images, and Stacey David’s GearZ, the winners in each category will be recognized with images of their models shown on an episode of Stacey David’s GearZ.

The contest runs through May 15. Complete rules are available at hobby specialists nationwide, online at www.revell.com or www.gearztv.com.
