Traxxas unveils 100-mph R/C Supercar
December 5, 2011
The Traxxas XO-1 Supercar will be available in stores Dec. 30.
Traxxas’ isn’t mincing words when it comes to its new XO-1: The Supercar is for “experts only.”
That’s because the ready-to-run R/C boasts speed capabilities of faster than 100 mph. And with an MSRP of $1,900, the XO-1 races into the “super-premium” market on Dec. 30.
“It will be a big hit for sure,” Traxxas Marketing Manager Peter Vieira said.
Claimed by Traxxas to be the “world’s fastest ready-to-race Supercar,” the XO-1 goes 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds and 0-100 mph in 4.92 seconds.
The XO-1 comes out of the box capable of 50-plus-mph speeds and includes the required accessories to bring it over the century mark. It also includes a Castle Creations Big Block 1717 brushless motor, a Mamba Monster Extreme electronic speed control with an integrated capacitor bank, and two 3-cell 5000mAh Power Cell LiPo battery packs.
Another popular feature of the XO-1 is the 2.4GHz radio that includes the new Traxxas TQi system, which can be equipped with the optional docking base that, combined with the Traxxas Link app, turns an iPhone or iPod touch into a tuning tool for the Supercar. The XO-1 is Traxxas’ only car that comes with the TQi docking base included in the transmitter, Vieira said.
“It’s definitely the most talked about car,” he said.
