Model Railroad News ceases publication
December 12, 2011
Model Railroad News Publisher Michael W. Lindsay has announced the magazine has printed its last issue.
In the letter on the magazine’s website, Lindsay cited the down economy, a slowly declining subscriber base, and increased production costs as the reasons for the shutdown.
The magazine, published for 16-plus years, had fallen behind in its production schedule in recent months. According to the release, Lindsay had hoped some investors would help restore the publication to its normal schedule and allow it to continue. “Sadly, those discussions came to an unhappy end this week just as we were preparing to go to press with our combined November/December edition,” he wrote.
Rather than operate and not be able to meet its financial obligations, Lindsay said he’d decided to stop publishing.
