Air Age Media’s Radio Control Expo (RCX) show is moving, slimming down and expanding all at the same time.

The annual R/C event in California, which includes Model Airplane Expo and Die-Cast Expo, is changing venues in 2012, from the fairgrounds in Pomona to the Convention Center in Long Beach. In the nearer future, a show has been added Aug. 6, 2011, in Chicago, Ill. Another show is planned for winter 2012 in Orlando, Fla. A date has not yet been announced for that show.

The show had spanned a weekend, however, all future shows are scheduled as one-day events. All shows will include surface and flight R/C attractions, as well as a die-cast component. Air Age’s Yvonne DeFrancesco said, “We have plans to expand the die-cast element because of the cross-over.”

The Chicago show will be at the Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park, Ill. The Long Beach show will be April 28, 2012. DeFrancesco said that show will be a week after the Long Beach Grand Prix auto race, and some attractions will remain from it for RCX.
