The Feb. 26-27 Edison, N.J. World’s Greatest Hobby model railroading show drew more than 36,000 visitors, according to show organizers. This year’s gate represents an 87% increase over the 2004 show in the same location.
The other three shows this year, in Columbus, Ohio; Omaha, Neb.; and Atlanta, Ga., have all drawn more than 25,000 people.
“Well over half the attendees had never been to a train show before, exposing our hobby to many potential new railroaders,” said Randy Bachmann, show chairman.
The WGH shows continue to introduce the public to model railroading in a family atmosphere. The next show is scheduled for March 19-20 in Tampa, Fla. at the Tampa Convention Center. |
