David Kinton
David E. Kinton, 72, of Leawood, Kans., formerly of Kansas City, Mo., died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at his home. A memorial service was May 10 in Kansas City.

Kinton bought Dealers Hobby Supply, a hobby distributor located in Dallas, Texas, in the mid-1970s. Shortly thereafter, he and his wife, Linda, purchased and operated four local Hobby Haven retail stores, the last of which he sold to long-time business partner Brian Berlin in 2009. David had served as a director and treasurer of the National Retail Hobby Stores Association.

Prior to his career in hobbies, Kinton had been an attorney in Kansas City, first with Brewer & Myers, then with Kuraner, Dingman, Brockus, Kinton & Lowe.

He is survived by his wife, Jill L. Kinton; a daughter, and a son. He was preceded in death by Linda Hallgren Kinton, his wife of 42 years. Memorial gifts may be made to John Knox Presbyterian Kirk, 11430 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64114
