Both hobby dealers and manufacturers are turning to the Boy Scouts and pinewood-derby racers for new customers

The difficulty, as numerous store owners have told Model Retailer through the years, is that kids these days would rather grab an XBox controller and build a new weapon class on Call of Duty Black Ops II than grab a model kit and build it from scratch.
There remains at least one youth group, however, that still values some of the same skills used by hobbyists: the Boy Scouts of America.
