As much as 40% of the thousands of small businesses destroyed by the catasrophic effects of man-made and natural disasters will never reopen their doors, according to the Insurance Information Institute. However, the rest get back in operation and on their way to a healthy recovery.

The difference?

In most cases, experts say, the fortunate ones are those who had a disaster preparation and recovery plan to guide them through that traumatic time.
