Effective immediately, GreenLight Collectibles has acquired Highway 61 Collectibles, a manufacturer of 1:18 die-cast cars based in Dubuque Iowa. This acquisition comes with 52 vehicle molds produced between 2002 and 2012. Click on image at right for complete list.

This addition to GreenLight marks the fourth major business move for the company in recent years after the GMP re-launch in May 2014, the re-launch of Precision Miniatures under the Precision Collection re-brand in January 2016, and the acquisition of First Response Replicas in July 2016.

“When approached with the opportunity to acquire the Highway 61 Collectibles brand and mold families in early 2016, we were excited to engage in an immediate discussion and negotiation,” said Russell Hughes, GreenLight Collectibles president. Hughes said the company would try "to introduce some new concepts that have never been seen in high-end 1:18 scale model car offerings.”

In a GreenLight press release, founder of Highway 61, Fred Ertl III, said that he was happy with the sale. "It is a fantastic line and I am certain collectors will be excited to see some new releases through the GreenLight outlets.”

Product line announcements are expected for the 2017 Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair in Nürnberg, Germany, Feb. 1-6, 2017, and the 2017 New York Toy Fair, Feb. 18-21, 2017.
