R/C shop reaches out to community to locate thieves

Published: November 18, 2016

RC Street Shop, in Long Beach, Calif., has taken a creative approach to stolen product recovery by asking the community to help locate two people who took more than $1,000 worth of merchandise.

Manager Roger Hewson says that he understands the local police are busy, so in addition to filing an official report he has also posted photos of the robbery on social media and is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspects. The pictures seem to show two men walking out of the store carrying R/C cars.

“We want to let everybody know that is not the kind of stuff we tolerate, and we want to do everything we can to help the police catch these guys,” said Hewson. “The profit we lose on a $1,400 sale would take us three months to recover. A lot of our customers, they save and they scrimp for a long time to buy something like [what] these guys stole.”
