Caboose Hobbies, located on South Broadway in Denver, has lost the lease at its current location and must move by October 10.

Because it is the world’s largest model train shop, this means moving over 100,000 items located within 18,600 square feet to an uncertain location. One of the owners, Duane Miller, said he was contemplating moving the remaining inventory to another location where he will still be able to process orders made online.

Caboose Hobbies posted on its Facebook wall reminding everyone that rumors claiming that it is closing are speculation and that it does not plan on closing, only moving.

“Our understanding is that the building will probably be demolished and the family that owns the land is going to lease the land to build something else,” said Ken Cook, store manager.

Before the business moves, Caboose Hobbies is having a transition sale where most items are listed for 25 percent off.

Caboose Hobbies has been around since 1938 and moved to its current location in 1981.
