R/C drifting club for youth

Published: July 6, 2016
Twenty-three-year-old Hayden Gager has set up a remote-control car-drifting club in Coventry, England, to help youth socialize and learn more about the hobby in a safe environment.

The Drifters RC Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month in the Wyken Community Centre. Members can bring their own vehicles, but the club provides cars to those who need to borrow.

Gager says he started the club with a few friends who had similar interests and then promoted it on Facebook. "If people like cars, we want them to avoid messing around on the roads and drifting out on the streets," he said. “We want people to get into cars but without the danger of going onto the streets and putting other road users in danger."

Ganger also noted that the club provides opportunities for those who simply want to socialize. “When we hold the meetings, it’s a real community feel."
