Published: June 14, 2016

Novak Electronics of Lake Forest, Calif. announced June 13 it was shutting down operations, effective immediately. Novak has been in business since 1978 and is known primarily for making brushless motors and orange speed controls for R/C products.

The news broke when Novak Electronics posted a message to its Facebook page announcing the company had closed its doors. In the message the Novak team thanked its supporters and looked fondly on its humble beginnings.

A segment of the message read, "It has been a wonderful 38 years. We have made more friends and had more fun doing what we love then we ever thought possible. The decision to close our family business did not come easy. Novak was driven by a good hobby experience. Making products that made your RC life easier, in the United States of America. We manufactured our own product under our own roof for nearly 4 decades. We thank you all for being part of this awesome ride. We leave proud of our brand, we leave proud of our products, we leave proud of our staff, and we leave proud of all the friends and family we have in this wonderful hobby world."

In 1983, Novak brought the ESC for R/C cars to market. The first R/C car sensored brushless motor and ESC was designed and manufactured by Novak in 2002. Throughout the years, many R/C races, including 20 of the International Federation of Model Auto Racing World Championships, have been won using Novak products.
