Revell initiates changes with new president and model line

Published: March 24, 2016
Revell GmbH has announced the details of its plans to make major changes within the company, including staff changes and new products. This news coincides with Revell's 50th year in business.

In terms of staff changes, the former Revell president, Hans Ulrich Remfert, and senior vice president sales, Bernd Wiegmann, both retired at the end of February. Stefan Krings, formerly managing director for Germany and Austria at Giocchi Preziosi, has taken over as president. Roger Gundel is now senior vice president of sales. Stefan Lutz will also be the new vice president for the marketing and product development departments.

With what Revell has called a "major change in direction" comes a line of new products geared towards  a younger crowd. 2015 was a record year in terms of turnover for Revell, mostly due to the plastic model kits sector and those based on "Star Wars" universe. This year, Revell plans to re-launch the model kit division with its JuniorKit line that includes products targeted at children four and older. Revell states that it wants to make plastic model building "younger and more interesting than ever before."

Revell will also be preserving its original core market by producing the 1/144 scale HMCS Snowberry, 1/16 scale BMW Isetta and the 1/32 scale F/A-18E Super Hornet.

Look for more updates as they are announced.
