Round 2 secures rights to Racing Champions brand

Published: January 28, 2016
Round 2 announced it has secured the licensing rights from TOMY International to produce the classic Racing Champions die-cast brand, including the Mint line of automobiles released in the 1990s. The brand is scheduled to return in February.

Round 2 is working to restore the original molds from the Mint series and will produce cars in new colors. These scale automobiles will have more painted details for added authenticity.

“This is going to be great fun! We’re thrilled to present the Racing Champions brand to collectors and vehicle enthusiasts of all ages," says Thomas Lowe, president and founder of Round 2 LLC. “These classics truly are timeless, and the Mint series of vehicles includes the best of the best.”

The castings will span each decade from 1930s to the 1990s. Examples include Cadillacs from the 1930s, Lincolns from the 1940s, Bel Air and Thunderbirds from the 1950s and Corvettes from the 1990s.

“From this immense casting bank, the Racing Champions design team and I have done our research and picked only the most exciting cars and trucks to offer our fellow enthusiasts,” says Lowe.
