Rapido Trains launches mystery product at Exporail

Published: September 14, 2015
Rapido Trains will be hosting its first-ever North American product launch party on Oct. 12 at Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum near Montreal.

The new product will be revealed at a 10:00 a.m. presentation in Exporail's Angus Pavilion as the first of a new series of Rapido products designed to fill major gaps in the model railroad market. As part of the launch, Rapido has hired a dome car and a first-class car from VIA Rail Canada for a "Ride the Rapido" special. The train will travel from Toronto's Union Station to Montreal via Ottawa on Oct. 11, and return directly to Toronto the following evening.

This is the first time a VIA dome car has run between Toronto and Montreal since 1985; the first time between Ottawa and Montreal since 1990; and it is the first dome service ever between Brockville and Ottawa. Tickets for the special charter sold out in less than 48 hours, but Rapido plans to run more charters in the future.

The party is open to the public and free to Exporail ticket holders. Model railroaders, railfans and enthusiasts will have the chance to meet the Rapido team and tour historic pieces of railway equipment usually closed to the public while enjoying all of the features of one of North America's finest railroad museums.

Rapido will release information about the new product on its website on the morning of Oct. 12.
