The hobby industry show previously known as iHobby Expo will have a new emphasis as well as a new venue and format, the Hobby Manufacturers Association (HMA) said in a Dec. 1 press release.

In order to implement the changes planned for the annual exhibition, the HMA is postponing the show until March 11-13, 2016. The show will be held at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison, N.J.

The changes planned include a new focus on consumers, rather than vendors and manufacturers. The association said the plan is to bolster attendance and interest by appealing to existing hobbyists and creating new ones, making it a consumer show with a trade element.

The HMA is still encouraging industry leaders to attend, pitching the show as a way to promote the hobby industry, forge new business relationships, and reinforce existing ones.

To further encourage industry and trade participation, HMA members are being offered free booth space to exhibit.

The association has contracted Competitive Intelligence Advertising (CIA Inc.) to manage and promote the show, which will change locations each year to broaden the event's national reach.
