White River Productions of Bucklin, Mo., has acquired Railroad Model Craftsman and Railfan & Railroad magazines, as well as the book line formerly published by Carstens Publications. Existing subscriptions to the magazines will be honored and fulfilled by White River Productions, according to the new owner.

The June issues of the magazines were the last published by Carstens, based in Newton, N.J. Carstens also published the radio-control magazine Flying Models, which was not included in the deal.

Railroad Model Craftsman was started in 1933 as The Model Craftsman. Its name was changed to Railroad Model Craftsman in 1949. Carstens purchased the magazine in 1963. The company started Railfan in 1974, and merged it with Railroad in 1979, creating Railfan & Railroad.

In addition to the newly acquired properties, White River Productions also produces Model Railroad News, Railroads Illustrated, Passenger Train Journal, The Railroad Press and 22 railroad historical society magazines and associated items.
