The National Retail Hobby Stores Association’s 2014 Table Top Expo tallied its biggest ever attendance figure from manufacturers and distributors, according to NRHSA President Bruce Throne.

The official numbers were not yet in, he said, but he was confident the record exhibitor attendance combined with a “fair amount” of new dealers put overall attendance above the show’s 2013 mark. There were also many manufacturers and distributors who exhibited for the first time at the 2014 show, held April 27¬–May 1 at The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Overall dealer attendance was down slightly, Throne said.

The show’s keynote speaker, Dan Jablons from Retail Smart Guys, was well-received, as was the Sunday speaker Tom Shay from Profits Plus, according to numerous dealers who spoke with Model Retailer.

“Every room was full,” Throne said. “It was almost standing room only for every seminar.”

The 2014 Table Top Expo also featured several events and demonstrations that were well-attended, including an indoor flying demo that packed one of the hotel’s ballrooms.

Next year’s show will run from April 20–22 and will feature reduced set-up hours and increased show hours, according to Show Director Rob Gherman.
