Gamers at this year’s Gen Con Game Fair will have the opportunity to help set an official Guinness World Record.

Mayfair Games announced Aug. 5 that it will attempt to set the official world record for “Most People Playing Settlers of Catan Simultaneously” on Aug. 16 at the J.W. Marriott’s White River Ballroom during the Gen Con Game Fair.

Mayfair is calling the world record attempt The Big Game. It will feature up to 1,012 players on a special game board. The game will be limited to 62 turns.

There is a $10 entry fee to participate, which provides each player with a deck of limited-edition Catan resource cards, a single-player set of basic Catan and Seafarers wood playing pieces in one of six colors, and a custom Catan map, all of which are produced specifically for the event. One player’s deck will also contain a Golden Ticket. That player will be given a 10th Anniversary 3-D edition of The Settlers of Catan Treasure Chest.
