Trainfest sets attendance record

Published: November 13, 2012
Trainfest 2012, held Nov. 10–11 in Milwaukee, set a new attendance record with 25,569 attendees.

In addition to the total attendance record, which included exhibitors and volunteers, the fifth annual Friday Product Showcase preview show event also set a record with 244 attendees. Preliminary reports from retailers indicate this year’s show delivered the best sales yet, with particularly strong sales on Sunday, according to Trainfest organizers.

Trainfest is America’s largest operating model railroad show under one roof. The annual two-day public event attracts train hobbyists and families who come to see and learn more about the hobby of model railroading. Visitors see nearly 70 operating railroads from Z to G scale, more than 100 manufacturers and hobby dealers, and more than 10 historical groups, plus artists, photography displays, clinics, and on-site demonstrations.

Trainfest, a non-profit organization, is sponsored by the Wisconsin Southeastern Division Inc. of the National Model Railroad Association. Trainfest 2013 will be held Nov. 9–10. For more information, visit
