Fire doesn't stop Woodland Scenics' manufacturing

Published: January 11, 2012
The Jan. 5 fire at model railroad scenery manufacturer Woodland Scenics’ plant in Linn Creek, Mo., hasn’t stopped the company’s production.

“While we still have some clean-up to do, our dedicated Woodland Scenics team has pitched in 110% to make sure we continued with business as usual!” CEO Dwayne Fultonsaid.

Blame for the fire has been placed on the failure of an electrical motor. According to a release from the company, the blaze destroyed 8% of Woodland Scenics’ facilities. Manufacturing and shipping operations in other buildings continued even as the firefighters battled the flames. Several employees temporarily displaced by the fire returned to work then next morning to assist with clean-up and resume business operations, and many worked through the weekend. All employees were back to work January 9.

“We are most grateful that no one was hurt,” Fulton said.

“Friends and customers from all over the world contacted us to offer their encouragement, prayers and help. We are very appreciative and humbled by this outpouring of support.”
