Scheduled for Oct. 20–23, 2011, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., the 27th iHobby Expo will include new seminars and workshops for dealer education and hands-on events for consumers. With more than 50 new companies exhibiting and more than 200 overall, this year’s iHobby appears to be on track to rival 2010’s success.

Hobby University dealer-education programs at this year’s expo include seminars about performing successful in-store demos and events; actively engaging customers; exploiting social media to improve sales and customer experience; and how to negotiate the sometimes perilous procedures of estate planning.

There will be plenty of manufacturer-sponsored events too, including advice for breaking into TV advertising, selling plastic models and improving model-rocket and airbrush sales.

Dealers who attend this years show can take advantage of the Ticket to Ride promotional offers from more than a dozen exhibitors. With the Ticket to Ride program, it is possible for retailers who make orders at the expo to recoup up to 100% of their travel expenses. When buyers place qualifying orders, they receive Ticket to Ride coupons from vendors. Each coupon has a value from $10–$100. After the show, retailers submit their coupons and travel receipts to the Hobby Manufacturers Association for reimbursement. Expenses covered for show attendees who drive include gas and mileage, parking, and food.
