Radio-control racing mainstay, Mike Reedy, died on Tuesday, at age 70, after a 10-year battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Making motors and batteries since the 1970s, Reedy joined Associated Electric in 1980. He helped develop motors and specially matched batteries that propelled the company to racing glory. Reedy went on to serve as Team Associated's team manager for more than 20 years and mentored many of R/C racing's biggest names.

A press release from Reedy's family said that no funeral services will be held, but that an "R/C party celebration" of life will be held at a later date. The family also requested that in lieu of flowers, condolences be made as contributions in Mike Reedy's name to the National Parkinson Foundation.
