Academy of Model Aeronautics Executive Director Cherry resigns

The Academy of Model Aeronautics announced Aug. 20 the resignation of Executive Director Jim Cherry. “We are very appreciative of all the good things that Jim has done for the Academy for nearly four years of his leadership,” said Dave Mathewson, president of AMA. “We wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Joyce Hager, assistant director and a 40-year member of the AMA professional staff, will assume interim executive director duties. The organization’s executive council, made up of vice presidents from AMA regional districts, has begun the search for a new executive director. The Muncie, Ind.-based AMA represents 142,000 members in 2,400 clubs.
